OPARTMENT

A Home Away From Home

About OPARTMENT

From Shanghai, OPARTMENT stands for quiet confidence and the spirit of home.

We keep originality and independence at the core, shaping spaces with freedom, considerate care, and wholehearted service so every resident can truly feel at home.

Rooted in a purist mindset, the brand becomes a poetic dialogue between East and West—and a window through which a new modernist style from China meets the world.

Brand Story

OPARTMENT is an independent high-end serviced-apartment brand that nurtures diverse artistic expression.

Starting from China while conversing with the world, we collaborate with artists East and West and local artisans so each property holds aesthetic appeal and cultural value.

The “
Ô” derives from Old French for “home,” and the circle echoes our faces—people gathering under a hand-built shelter that becomes a warm home.

We reject modular design, value white space, and leave freedom for every resident to feel and enjoy.

Founder's Story

A poetic dialogue between East and West. From Shanghai, founders Sun Fei and Zhou Weiwei created OPARTMENT out of a persistent pursuit of culture and art.

They keep to the idea of “home,” avoid templated layouts, and preserve originality and independence.

Attentive to residents’ feelings, they offer freedom, care and top-notch service—so arriving feels like coming home.

For them, OPARTMENT is a daily artistic practice driven by curiosity and rigor.

Far Eastern Story

The search for a true home began in 2020 and led, after many turns, to a century-old building by People’s Square—the Far Eastern.

Treated like an artwork, the project went through design, revision and renovation for over a year; the quiet of the pandemic allowed details to be refined.

In spring 2023, the building reopened as OPARTMENT The Far Eastern Hotel, the brand’s first black-label project.

Architecture & Legacy

Time tempers and history refines. Born in the 1920s, the Far Eastern opened in 1923 with 100 rooms, telephones in every room and a rooftop patio that defined summer nights.

It later added a ballroom, then became a reading hall and theatre. After 1949 it served as a guesthouse, reopening to the public in the late 1980s.

In 2023, after a careful revival, the landmark returned to life at Shanghai’s beating heart.
